Arbonne Part Deux: Day 25, 26 and 27

I am 12 hours away from being finished with my second Arbonne 28 day detox boot camp! I am feeling so good right now, that I thinking I am really going to stick to the 80/20 rule this go round. I am going to reintegrate pork, all fruits, corn and wine back in. Going to stick to enjoying wine to once a week during the weekend. I am also going to stay away from boxed snacks even if they do say gluten-free. I am still 3 weeks away from race and I don’t want to erase this awesome feeling! Tomorrow I will share my weight loss and possibly my before and after pics.

Day 25

Woke up and made a berry shake and made a detox iced tea to go. I had an Arbonne workshop in the morning so I snacked on some granola, blueberries and strawberries. For lunch I had a quick shake and some black rice tortilla and humus. Afternoon was busy and we didn’t get to eat dinner until after 7:30. I had zucchini spaghetti and Bolognese sauce.

After dinner I finished my day with a detox tea.

Day 26

Since it is a Saturday I had more time in the morning and I made a pumpkin smoothie this morning. It was delicious. I added about 3 table spoons of organic canned pumpkin, fiber, probiotic, almond milk , one scoop vanilla and one scoop chocolate protein. I also added pumpkin spice and cinnamon.  For a mid morning snack I had trail mix and an iced detox tea and fizz stick. For lunch we went to a local sports bar Maxie’s. I had their tequila lime chicken sandwich with no bun and added grilled peppers and avocados on top and a side salad. It was delicious. For an afternoon snack I had rice cakes and almonds. In the evening we had a pot roast with pumpkin, green beans and carrots. It was perfect b/c it was a brisk evening. I finished my night with a detox tea.

Day 27

I started my day with a berry shake and took a hot detox tea to go since it was a chilly morning. After Mass and Religious Ed I had two adobaba tacos with cabbage, cilantro, onions and some lime. I asked for tortilla this time, because I was tired of the weird looks I would get when I asked for it without it. I just didn’t eat the tortilla. Since it was just the meat and veggies, I was still hungry when I got home so I made a macaroon shake with a table-spoon of almond butter. While at my afternoon Arbonne Workshop I had some raspberries and grapes ( I know not an authorized detox fruit), I also had the leftover fit chews that no one sampled. For dinner I am having leftover pot roast and will finish my evening with a detox tea.

Arbonne Detox Part Deux: Day 17, 18 and 19

Sorry, I missed the last few days it has been very busy.

Day 17

So I promised that today would be more exciting food wise, well it really wasn’t sorry to disappoint. In the morning I made a berry chocolate shake, but I added a scoop of the greens balance in it. It was ok, I think the greens balance needs something sweeter to over ride the aftertaste. Once I can eat pineapples (when detox is over) that it was I am going to use, because it was delicious with it!! I had an Arbonne workshop in the morning so I had some berries, a fizz stick and a lot of water. For lunch I made a veggies omelet.

In the afternoon I had the rest of the cleanse and almonds. I also made sure to drink more water. For dinner I had a shake and at the evening detox workshop, I had a fizz stick and some chews.

Day 18

This morning I made a vanilla shake with strawberries and the greens balance. It was better than yesterday shake, but it still needs the pineapples. I also had an iced detox tea with fizz stick. I trained with my trainer this morning and we did a TABATA workout of wall balls, sit ups, box jumps, elevated push ups and TRX bicep curls. For a snack I had a small chocolate shake before I went to volunteer at the library at my youngest school.  For lunch I had a business meeting and we met at Longhorn. I had a greens salad (which they had to take back because it cheese and croutons on it) with salmon and lemon wedges for dressing. It was really good. For an afternoon snack I had a black rice tortilla. In the evening I had an Arbonne workshop and my hostess had delicious food. I had some shrimp ceviche, sweet potato chips and strawberries.

Day 19

Today I was a substitute in the library at my youngest elementary school. I spent my day reading stories and helping kiddos pick out quality literature. It was a lot of fun and I would do again in a heartbeat. I took a bag filled with almonds, fit chews, fizz sticks and a shake for lunch. I had my shake and an iced detox tea with fizz stick in the morning. I waited and had a snack around 10 am and then again around 11:30am. My lunch break wasn’t until 1:15pm. Once the day was over and I got home I had some more almonds. For dinner I went out to dinner with friends (Nicole, Janira and Amy) for my friend Jen’s birthday. We went to a local farm to table restaurant called Ashten’s. Since I really didn’t eat much today, I made it up at dinner. Which I know isn’t good practice.  For appetizer I had butter bean hummus with cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. It came with grilled pita but I gave it to my friends that were not on the detox. It’s nice to go out to dinner with friends who are detoxing, because you support each other along the way! For my main course, I had the NY strip. It comes from the same farmer that I buy my grass fed beef from. I substituted the mac and cheese it came with, for sweet potato fries. It also came with stewed tomatoes. When I came home I had to finished the last 12 ounces of the cleanse.

Only 2 more weekends to go on the detox. Like I mentioned before the second time around has definitely been easier. It feels like routine. I am very excited for a glass of red wine when it’s over.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Arbonne Detox Part Deux: Day 16

Day 16

Today was pretty boring detox wise. I had a chocolate macaroon shake for breakfast and I did remember my detox tea this morning, unlike yesterday. I went to 8:45 am hot yoga flow class. I hadn’t been since July and I noticed how messed up my body gets when I am training for a race. Makes me reevaluate the entire running scenario. I really don’t enjoy it, which makes me wonder why I do it. It is the best cardio work out for me so I think I am just going to stick to running twice a week no more than 3 miles. Race wise after my 10K in October I am going to stick to 5Ks. Yoga was wonderful today and I am going to try to make it there once a week again.  After yoga I ran errands until about 1pm. I didn’t mean to be out that long, but that is just how it happened. I didn’t prepare to be out that long so I only had a fit chew in between my shake and lunch. Which I know is very bad. I came home and had leftovers from dinner. It was basically the brown rice turkey filing. After lunch I started drinking the cleanse. In the afternoon I had some almonds for a snack and drank water. I have surprised myself that I haven’t had a fizz stick these past 2 days. I haven’t been tired at all. My skin is also looking really good! This is the best part of the detox is when you start to feel amazing! For dinner I had the same thing as lunch and then I finished the rest of the cleanse and had some water and the detox tea! I promise tomorrow will be a better eating day ! Hope you all have a good night!

Arbonne Detox Part Deux: Day 15

Yeah I am half way done and it is also the start of cleanse week….mmmmmmm. Here is a little info on our 7 day cleanse.

Regular cleansing is an important part of ongoing health and wellness. Take 7-Day Body Cleanse for seven days, once a month, to deliver ingredients that help support cleansing and gentle toxin elimination from the body.◊ Targeted botanicals support liver health, a key organ of detoxification and for removal of metabolic waste. Additionally, supporting the liver may also help support the production of the endogenous (internally made) antioxidant, glutathione. A fruit-based blend also delivers antioxidants to help fight free-radical damage in the body.

We do this in the 3rd week of the detox. By this time your body should be pretty clean, so the whole cleansing element of it all isn’t that dramatic. We suggest you drink it cold over the span of 4-8 hours. You pour the contents of the packet in a 32 ounce bottle with cold water. It tasted like diluted sour apple ice tea. Now that more acidic your body is the worse it going to taste. We also don’t take the probiotic this week, because it will kinda go to waste and this cleanse will help with everything regarding your gut.

• Supports toxin elimination • Supports liver health and internal antioxidant activity• Antioxidant blend fights oxidation • Supports gastrointestinal health • No artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners • Fructose- and corn syrup-free; sweetened with natural agave nectar and stevia

Key Ingredients

Milk Thistle

• Helps support the liver• Is a hepatoprotectant, which also helps support liver glutathione to help fight free radicals generated through normal biological processes.

Antioxidant Blend

• Free radicals can cause oxidation in the body; antioxidants help stabilize free radicals to counter damaging effects. • Contains superfood fruit powders from elderberry, chokeberry, hibiscus, blackcurrant, cherry, carrot and apple. • Superfoods contain antioxidants like anthocyanins, carotenoids and polyphenols.

Day 15

I started out my day with a berry shake and I just realized I forgot my detox tea oops. I started pushing the water early this morning. I decided to drink the cleanse after my run. I ran 3 miles and it felt amazing! Can’t wait to see how my run feels on Wednesday. I came home and started drinking the cleanse I had 4 ounces of it. I then went to run a few errands, when I got back I snacked on a couple of slices of roast beef and I had a macaroon chocolate shake for lunch. I added more ice than usual and it became the consistency of a frosty oh dear Lord it was delicious!  When I came back from a meeting and picking up my youngest from school I started prepping dinner and I snacked on some of the filling of the stuffed peppers.

The stuffed peppers were really good. You roast the peppers for 20 min in over at 400 degrees, you take them out and stuff them (browned ground turkey, cooked brown rice, sautéed zucchini, onions, you can add black beans  and salsa but I omitted them.) You then put them back in oven at 350 for 15 min. You can top with diya “cheese” or not. I chose not to, instead I topped them with pico. For my family I added mozzarella cheese on top.  This was good and easy to make before hand. I am going to put this in my dinner rotation. I am now going to enjoy my detox tea and watch some of the new TV shows. Have a good night!

Arbonne Detox Day 27 and 28

YYYYYYIIIIIPPPPPPEEEEE I survived! If I can do it, anyone can do it.  The biggest challenge  lies ahead for me and that is to take what I have learned and apply it to a non-detox life. Our detox leader posted this picture in our Facebook group and it says exactly how I feel.

I can’t go back to the old me. The old me was unhappy when she put on her clothes, she was unhappy when she stepped on the scale, she was happy at the gym but then rewarded her hard work with food. Food is not a reward I am not a dog. Food is my machine’s fuel. It has been liberating to have four weekends where I didn’t over eat or drink. I didn’t have a guilty conscience for four Monday’s. I don’t have to vow to go to the gym 6 times that week to undo the damage. I am not a slave to my over eating guilt. It’s so nice to come home from a social function and not feel gross. It’s nice to have more energy and alertness. I feel so good and I hope this feeling and accomplishments are enough to help me not fall back to the old me.

Saturday, May 17th: Day 27

I was able to sleep in for a little bit. I got up and did my morning detox routine. I made a berry shake, I didn’t have my detox tea until later in the afternoon. Mid morning I had some almonds.  For lunch I had left over chicken with pea puree and salsa. Something I have learned from this is that homemade salsa or pico and guac can go with anything!  Mid afternoon I made my detox tea iced and with an energy fizz stick. I drank that while we were at my oldest son triathlon. We went to Mellow Mushroom (a pizza joint) for a celebratory  dinner for my sons accomplishment. I created my own salad. There was also a friend and fellow detoxer at Mellow Mushroom and she gave me a slice of her gluten-free, dairy free veggie pizza. It wasn’t bad. Thank you Brit for sharing!

When we got home I had some fit chews and my detox tea.

Sunday, May 18th: Day 28th

Last official day of detox! I woke up and did my detox morning routine. It was more rushed this morning as we were going to Mass. When we got home I snacked on some almonds. For lunch I had turkey wraps. I went to the movies and just drank water. It was hard to not grab a handful of popcorn. I had a fizz stick and fit chews when I got home. For dinner I made sword fish with seasoned salt and coconut oil. I had Trader Joe’s Superfood Pilaf it has sweet potatoes, kale and quinoa. It was good. Trader Joe’s has a lot of detox friendly sides.

IMG_3515 As I type this I am currently enjoying my detox tea and I will have a fit chew when I get my evening sweet craving.

So this is the end of my 28 day journey. I will still write about my transition week. I will reveal the amount of inches and weight I lost in tomorrow’s post. There are many things I am going to keep from the detox. I will continue to take the probiotics and have a detox tea. I will keep the protein shakes in the morning and always have fizz sticks and fit chews on hand. I will eat cleaning 80% of the time and 20% of the time I will eat or drink non detox food in moderation.

Thanks for following me on my 28 day detox journey. This isn’t the end it is only the beginning to a healthier me!

Arbonne Detox: Day 20 and 21

We woke up super early because we were doing a local race. My hubby and the boys were doing the family fun run and I was doing the 5K. I did my morning detox minus the detox tea and I drank my shake on the way to the race. I was nervous to see how the race would go. I hadn’t run outside much since the fall. The farthest run I had done outside these past two weeks was 2 miles. With all that being said,  I was surprised that I finished with a decent time. It was not my fastest but definitely finished around the same time I was running in the fall. After the race I had 1/2 a banana. I know not detox friendly, but I needed something. After we left  the post-race festivities we ran a few errands. When we came home, I immediately ate lunch, which was left overs from the night before.

IMG_3495 In the mid afternoon I had some strawberries and I drank my cleanse from about noon until 5ish. For dinner we grilled steaks with pico de gallo and brown rice. I love having my weekly portion of red meat! Yes, there is steak in there I love putting the pico on top!

Happy Mother’s Day! Normally, the boys fix me breakfast in bed, but since I can’t have most breakfast food I had my normal shake, but with the yummo strawberries I got at the Farmer’s Market the day before. We went to Mass and then came home.  I had some more strawberries and a couple of fit chews. We had brunch reservations at The Carolina Hotel at 2pm. Since I survived the brunch last week I thought this would be easy. Boy, I was wrong.  It was really hard not to cheat today. The dessert section and the cheese section was calling my name, but I didn’t answer. I probably ate more than I should have. I had a small salad with lemon as a dressing.  I then had a seafood plate with veggies.

The veggies did have some butter on it, but I tried to pick the ones that had the least on them.  I should have stopped there, but I went to get a small veggies omelet.  When we came back I started drinking the cleanse, because I had forgotten to start it earlier I drank it from 3pm until about 7pm.  For dinner we made a beer can chicken, I marinated with a peruvian like marinade I substituted the vinegar with lemon. I also sautéed some kale and made sweet potato fries.

Since I had more at lunch, I made sure my portions were smaller.  All in all it was a good weekend. As I embark on my last week, I really need to decide how I am going to transition out of these last 28 days. I love the way my body has transformed (I will reveal my numbers after the 28 days are done) and I love the way I feel. I love not feeling like crap after I eat a meal. I love not feeling guilty if I don’t go to the gym 5 days a week. I am considering living my life 80/20 and really cutting out gluten out of my life and saving it for special occasions. I have a lot to think about this next week. I am so excited I had made it this far!

Arbonne Detox: Day 19

Happy Friday! Made it through another work week. This morning my husband took the boys into school so I was able to do my morning detox routine a little slower which was nice. I spend the entire day at home giving the house a nice good scrub. Mid morning I had a couple of fit chews. I started drinking my cleanse around 10 am. At noon I made the same chicken bowl I made yesterday instead of rice I made some guac. After lunch I started making our dinner of turkey meatballs and mashed cauliflower and finished cleaning. At around 2pm I had an apple. I finished drinking the cleanse at around 4pm. Our youngest son had swim lessons at 5pm ( I grabbed a couple of fit chews on my way out the door) and then my husband and I had a meeting at 6pm. So my dinner window was very slim. I was able to get a meatball in after I came home from swim and before our meeting. We were back home around 7:30pm and I know we are advised not to eat after 7pm, but I had a bowl of turkey meatballs and mashed cauliflower. I figured it was better than not having a substantial dinner.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, especially the moms out there.  Tomorrow morning I am running in a 5K race. We will see how it goes.
